The second general conference of the BRICS Network University

The second general conference of the BRICS Network University to be organized in Zhengzhou, China by the North China University of Water Resources and Electric Power on July 1-3, 2017

 

Following article 5 of the Declaration of the 4th Meeting of BRICS Ministers of Education held on September 30, 2016 in New Delhi, India, the Second General Conference of the BRICS Network University is supposed to be held in China, the current BRICS Chairship country. The Chinese Ministry of Education appointed North China University of Water Resources and Electric Power to host this important event.

The conference will precede the BRICS senior officials meetings on education and the BRICS ministers of education meeting to be held in Beijing on July 3-4, 2016. The general conference of the BRICS NU is supposed to be a milestone event, reflecting on what happened in the frameworks of the BRICS NU in 2016 -2017 and planning the activity of the Network University for the next period.

 

As always, the general BRICS NU conference will consist of the following three main parts:

-       International Governing Board (IGB) meeting

-       Six International Thematic Groups (ITGs) meetings

-       Plenaries and BRICS Network University Presidents Forum.

 

The plenaries and the BRICS NU University Presidents forum will include keynote talks of the ministries representatives and international experts on the state of the BRICS collaboration in education and research. The Presidents of the universities, participating in the BRICS NU project will have a good chance to meet and to discuss areas of possible collaboration between their institutions.

 

The International Governing Board will discuss important issues of the BRICS NU activity including the issues of the support of the project as well as consider and approve the calendar plan of the BRICS NU activities and the roadmaps of the start of the main joint educational programmes. Some documents of the normative character are supposed to be signed by the members of the Board.

 

The Six International Thematic Groups will gather to discuss progress in elaboration of the joint master and PhD programmes as well as in organizing collaborative summer schools and short courses. All ITGs are also supposed to consider current problems in the development of the activities of the project and to report on them to the International Governing Board.
