The BRICS and Emerging Economies Universities Summit will take place at the University of Johannesburg (South Africa) from 30 November to 2 December. The BRICS Network University has been invited to organize a student BRICS NU session at the summit.
The participants of the Universities Summit will have an opportunity to hear academic leaders from the BRICS nations, emerging economies and beyond. They are to consider: what will shape the 21st century university? How will technology affect future learning? Is there a shared vision of a university of the future? And how are universities in the BRICS nations and emerging economies innovating and developing sustainably.
The event is a unique opportunity to:
· Meet with higher education leaders and develop network at a three-day summit and gala dinner
· Gain exclusive insights as the experts launch the THE BRICS and Emerging Economies University Ranking 2017
· Share ideas, engage in debates and set the agenda on the future of world-class university.
Speakers of this year include Adam Habib, vice-chancellor and principal (University of Witwatersrand), Maxim Khomyakov, vice-rector for international relations (Ural Federal University), Rajani Naidoo, director, International center for Higher Educational Management (University of Bath), Reitumetse Obakeng Mabokela, vice-provost for international affairs and global strategies (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign), Ihron Rensburg, vice-chancellor and principal (University of Johannedburg), Simon Schwartzman, senior researcher, Institute for Studies on Labour and Society (IETS) and many more.
The BRICS Network University student panel will include student representatives from the 5 BRICS countries together with a panel chair/moderator and will take the shape of a discussion format. The students representatives are nominated by National Coordinating Committees of the BRICS Network University.
